The stage of Bhopal is all set to welcome the fabulous theatre performances from across the globe with the theme ‘Flag of Friendship’.
The 8th Theatre Olympics will begin in city from Wednesday with the celebrated Hindi play ‘Tumhara Vincet’. The play will be staged at Ravindra Bhavan.
Tumhara Vincet is directed by Satyabrat Rout. India is hosting theatre Olympics for the first time. The Bhopal chapter of Theatre Olympics 2018 is organised by National School of Drama under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Culture Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The Bhopalites will witness thetare performances from India, Italy, Nepal, Australia, France, Spain and Israel. Besides, there will be 27 plays set to be staged in languages Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, English, Tamil, Kashmiri, Italian, Spanish, Kannad, Rajasthani and Urdu.
Along with thetare performances, there will be a theatre workshop to be conducted by experts.
They include KS Rajendran, Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi, Vaibhav Arekar, Bharat Sharma, Bharat Ratan Bhargav, Devendra Raj Ankur, Sangeeta Gundecha and many more. The workshops will be held from March 23 to 24.
Besides, experts like Vibhuti Narayan and Mohan Agashe will take up the ‘Master Classes’ for the theatre aspirants of the city. The Master Classes will be held on March 16 and March 25.
It is to be noted that the Theatre Olympics was established in 1993 in Delphi, Greece, on the initiative of the famous Greek theatre director, Theodoros Terzopoulos. Theatre Olympics is an international theatre festival, which is presenting some of the achievements of the greatest theatre practitioners from around the world.
It is a platform for theatrical exchange, a gathering place for students and masters, where a dialogue despite ideological, culture and language differences is encouraged.
Further more, the goal of the Theatre Olympics show beginning tomorrow is to strengthen and re-establish the status of the contemporary theatre around the world.
