The Mainland China equity market closed down on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, as fears of a Sino-U. S. trade war outweighed optimism from China's solid economic data. At the close, the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.6%, or 18.86 points, to end at 3,291.38.
The CSI 300 Index of big-caps fell 0.4% to 4,073.34. The ChiNext measure of smaller companies shed 1.7% to 1,841.29. The Shenzhen Composite Index finished 0.9% lower at 1,878.51.
