UP: Counting of votes starts in Gorakhpur, Phulpur for Lok Sabha election results 2018

Lucknow:  Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha bypolls results counting have been started today amid tight security preparations.

An Election Commission (EC) stated, all preparations had been done for the counting of votes and the results were likely to be out by Wednesday noon.

In Gorakhpur, 47.45% votes were casted while 37.39% polling were done in Phulpur on Sunday. There were around ten candidates from Gorakhpur and 22 nominees from Phulpur.

BJP candidates have left behind other opponents in both the seats of UP. In Araria seat of Bihar, the RJD candidate has taken the lead while Samajwadi Party is leading with 43,562 votes in Phulpur.

A total of 10 candidates, including Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party members contested from Gorakhpur while 22 candidates contested in Phulpur seat. The election results of both the seats are likely to come in afternoon.

BJP candidate Kaushlendra Singh is the candidate from Phulpur while Manish Mishra, son of senior leader JN Mishra has contested the election on Congress seat. The fate of seven candidates is recorded in EVM machine.
