Tribhuvan Army Club shuttlers Nangsal Tamang and Rashila Maharjan advanced to the women’s singles final of the 14th Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Championship today.
In semi-final matches, Tamang thrashed Nepal APF Club’s Shobha Gauchan 21-12, 21-13, while Maharjan defeated Jhapa’s Jessika Gurung 21-13, 21-17.
In men’s singles quarter-final matches, Ratnajit Tamang beat his TAC teammate Prafulla Maharjan 21-11, 21-8, Darchula’s Prince Dahal outplayed Bhojpur’s Bikash Shrestha 21-18, 21-18, TAC’s Nabin Shrestha saw off APF’s Sajan Krishna Tamrakar 21-19, 21-12 and Dipesh Dhami beat fellow APF shuttler Bijit Thapa Magar 21-19, 21-11.
In men’s doubles pre-quarters, TAC pair Ratnajit Tamang and Nabin Shrestha saw off Hira Rai and Gyaljen Sherpa 21-12, 21-14, APF’s Gautam Kathayat and Bishal Pradhan defeated Subhash Ulak and Suman Pokharel 21-8, 21-11, APF’s Sudeep Sedhai and Sajan Krishna Tamrakar beat Sujan Thapa and Anish Shrestha 21-10, 18-21, 21-10 and TAC’s Rukesh Maharjan and Pabin Linthip outplayed Ram Baniya and Roman Baniya 21-18, 17-21, 21-19.
Similarly, Nepal Police Club’s Deepak Bohara and Jeevan Acharya saw off Pankaj Chand and Suman Limbu 21-11, 23-21, APF’s Dipesh Dhami and Bijit Thapa Magar defeated Abhishek Boss and Sushil Shrestha 21-7, 21-19, Banke’s Riyaz Ansari and Irfan Ansari defeated Nir Bikram Devkota and Nirajan Devkota 24-22, 14-21, 24-22, and TAC’s Prafull Maharjan and Suraj Maharjan got a walkover win.

Three players from Lalitpur made it to the men’s singles semi-finals of the 10th Sahabir Memorial Open Lawn Tennis Championship.

In men’s singles quarter-final matches, Santosh Khatri defeated Pokhara’s Anil Shahi 6-3, 6-0, Jitendra Pariyar saw off NPC’s Kamal Bhandari 1-6, 6-1, 7-5, and Pranav Khanal beat Kathmandu’s Man Bahadur Katwal 6-1, 6-1. Likewise, Pokhara’s Pradeep Khadka advanced after Butwal’s Bikash Khadka retired while trailing 6-7 in the first set.
In the above-35 veteran singles, Raju Shrestha of Kathmandu defeated Sunsari’s Mahesh Shrestha 6-0, 7-6 and Kathmandu’s Rohit Sunuwar saw off APF’s Aatmaram Karki 6-1, 6-1 to make it to the final.
In above-55 veteran, Makawanpur’s Kamal Thapa saw off Kathmandu’s Chhyamba Dhunduk 6-0, 6-1 and Lalitpur’s Krishna Ghale defeated Kathmandu’s Karma Ghale 6-0, 6-1 to make it to the final.
In above-45 veteran quarter-final matches, Kathmandu’s Bimal Kumar Gurung earned a double bagel against his teammate Chandra Tamang, while Kathmandu’s Raju Shrestha beat his teammate Rajesh Chhetri 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Likewise, Sunsari’s Degendra Shrestha outplayed Kathmandu’s Bibhu Kayastha 7-6, 5-7, 10-7, TAC’s Sijar Gurung won after Kathmandu’s Manoj Shahi retired hurt. Gurung claimed the first set 6-3 but Shahi quit after winning 9-7 in the second set.
Volleyball

Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club won their matches of the APF IG fifth Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament. TAC defeated Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre in straight sets of 25-10, 25-18, 25-15, while APF recorded a 25-8, 25-5, 25-9 victory over Dhorpatan Sports Club.
