8 child beggars rescued in midnight swoop

In a special drive after Monday midnight, police and Child Line officials swooped on Rajavihar centre, bus stands and railway station and rescued eight child beggars living along the footpaths in Kurnool city and shifted them to a hostel under Operation Muskan, Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jatti said on Tuesday.

Kurnool DSP Khader Basha, Central Crime Station DSP Hussain Peera and Traffic DSP C.M. Gangaiah and Child Line Project Director V. Mohan Raju lodged the eight children in a guest house for the night, took them to the District Police Office on Tuesday, gave them a hair cut, bath and new clothes.

Kurnool OSD Raviprakash directed the officials to take steps to lodge them in a hostel and impart education to them. The Child Line Welfare Committee was told to take measures for protection of girl child beggars.
