Over 100 people including farmers are protesting in Keezhattoor area of Kerala's Kannur against government's move to construct bypass road through paddy field.

Tension prevails in the area. Police and PWD officials reached the spot today morning to inspect the land.

Protestors have threatened to set themselves on fire if the officials try to acquire the area.

The protest that initially began in June last year was called off in September after assurance from government that an amicable solution will be formulated in the issue.

The protesters, most of them, CPM workers did allow the CPM-led state government to acquire land for road construction.
