MLC N. Ramachandra Rao has questioned the omission of any mention of the Central assistance in State government’s schemes in Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan’s Monday’s address to the joint session of the legislature.
Noting that the address did not take off from the points mentioned during last year’s speech, he said it did not reflect people’s aspirations.
In his address post the motion to thank the Governor, Mr. Ramachandra Rao said the raised per capita income should be juxtaposed with the per capita loan accrued. He questioned the reason behind 3,000 alleged suicide by farmers during the four years of TRS rule, if everything is hunky dory with agriculture.
He asked why the roads in Hyderabad are in pathetic condition, and why Metro Rail is not being extended to the Old City.
Pointing out that teachers have not been recruited for various residential schools, nor in various universities and junior colleges, Mr. Rao said, for the promised 1.2 lakh vacancies, only about 20,000 have been filled up through TSPSC, mostly in Police department.
Amid continuing protests from the ruling party members, he said the Osmania University has lost the opportunity to hold Indian Science Congress owing to the folly of the State government.
Alleging that the double bedroom houses failed to take off because bills were not paid to contractors, Mr. Rao sought to know how many houses sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna have actually been handed over.
MLCs N. Lakshmana Rao, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and M. S. Prabhakar Rao, in their speeches thanking the Governor, mentioned various welfare and development programmes by the TRS government.
