London - Ahead of the 2018 Formula 1 season, Mercedes-AMG explains the differences between its W09 model and its 2017 title-winning competitor.
Mercedes said: "It’s rare for two Formula 1 siblings to be in the same room at the same time but recently, our Technical Director James Allison gave us the chance to check out the W08 and the W09 side by side to see just how they compare."
The Halo and T-wing
Allison explained that no drastic changes were made to the new car apart from two regulatory adjustments. One of which would be the Halo safety device, while Mercedes made away with the T-Wing on the rear end of the car.
He explained that the engineers wrecked their brains in trying to make the car slimmer around the engine and exhaust exits, resulting in a more aesthetic look and a quicker car. The front wish bone was also raised which allowed for more downforce and better aerodynamics
