‘The Clintons Are a Virus in the Democratic Party,’ Says Meghan McCain
Meghan McCain, daughter of Senator John McCain, called the Clintons “a virus” on ABC’s The View following comments made by former secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton while in India.
“[Democrats] do not do well with white men, and we don’t do well with married, white women. And part of that is an identification with the Republican Party, and a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should,” said Clinton on Saturday at the India Today Conclave in response to a question about why a majority of white women voted for President Donald Trump.
Meghan McCain, a Republican, had tough words for Clinton Tuesday.

“I’ve got to tell you some hard truths…the Clintons are a virus in the Democratic Party,” said Meghan McCain. “You have to move on.… This message is losing. You just lost an important election to a reality television star.”
Meghan McCain continued that if the Democrats continue in Clinton’s vein, they will lose again.
“If the [Democratic] Party is the party of the heathens, we’re going to have Trump for another four years,” she said.
The McCains are no devotees of Trump, and John McCain, a Republican, has often been the target of Trump’s signature barbs. While on the campaign trail, Trump made fun of the Vietnam War veteran for being prisoner of war for over five years.
“He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured,” said Trump in 2015.
Trump has continued to make fun of John McCain, including his war injuries, well into his presidency. After McCain helped to derail a Senate effort to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare,” Trump made him a target. Last month during the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump critiqued the senator, who is currently battling brain cancer.
