more-in

A physically-disabled dentist and her mother have moved the High Court of Karnataka seeking compensation from Air India and a travel agent for their suffering during their Europe tour about a year ago because of the alleged negligence of the airline.

Justice Vineet Kothari, before whom the petition filed by S.J Rajalakshmi, a dentist and her mother S. Shobha came up for hearing, has adjourned further hearing till April 3.

It was alleged in the petition that a wheelchair, which was checked in at Bengaluru airport, had not arrived at London because of which their further travel plan was severely affected forcing them to return to Bengaluru abruptly. Also, the petitioner alleged that poor quality of food provided by the airline had impacted their health forcing them to take treatment for a longer duration causing loss of medical practice.

Besides seeking compensation, the mother-daughter have also sought a direction to the airline and the travel agent for re-arranging a part of the tour.
