Deccan Gymkhana Club clinches Mayor’s title

Pune: Deccan Gymkhana Club defeated Akshay Bhosale Gymkhana Club 86-82 in the men’s final of the Mayor’s Cup Basketball Tournament which concluded at Symbiosis International School on Monday.

For Deccan Gymkhana, Siddhant Shinde scored 42 points while Pranav Wagle scored 16 points followed by Karna Mehta who scored 10 points. For Akshay Bhosale Gymkhana Club, Yousuf Sayyed (41), Tejas Khivsare (16) and Ravi Chaure (8) got on the scoreline.

In the women’s final, Sardar Dastur defeated SPM 74-32 to walk home with the title. Dastur girls led with the score of 33-12 at half time. 

Shruti Sherigar (20), Rupali Tripathi (18) and Nidhi Palrecha (12) scored for Sardar Dastur. Chipping in for SPM were Asmi Vora and Mithali Gujrathi who scored 8 points each.

In the Under-13 boys final, Vidyanchal High School beat Abhinava 42-16 to emerge victorious.

Under-13 Boys: Vidyanchal High School 42 (Shardul Pathak 8, Soham Gat 8) bt Abhinava Eng  School 16 (Megh Atre 4, Ankit Thakurdesai 3) Half-time 32-7.
