Hit105 on top at breakfast after Osher Gunsberg's departure

Hit105’s breakfast crew has surged to the top of the Brisbane radio ladder on the back of its most well-known member’s departure.

The Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg farewelled Stav, Abby and Matt at the end of October because of his expanding TV commitments.

In the latest audience ratings - the station’s first full period without Gunsberg on the air - its breakfast share jumped dramatically as key rivals Nova’s audience tanked to start 2018.

Ash, Kip and Luttsy seemed to be steaming away from their competitors at the end of 2017, taking out the top spot for the second period in a row with a widening advantage.

But that came crashing down in January and February as Nova shed almost two whole points of audience in the breakfast slot to drop to a 12.2 per cent share.

Nova’s loss was Hit’s gain as the station grabbed an extra 1.5 per cent to leap from third to first.

Unlike the upheaval seen at the start of last year, most Brisbane stations eschewed major changes for the new year, with the exception of the ABC.

It was bad news at breakfast for the national broadcaster, which lost half a percentage point with the addition of Rebecca Levingston to the show formerly hosted solo by Craig Zonca, to drop to third.

The only other noticeable to change to the station’s ratings was a 0.6 per cent jump in the station’s minuscule Drive audience (to 1.1 per cent share), coinciding with former Mornings presenter Steve Austin's move there.

Back on breakfast, 97.3FM and Triple M rounded out the top five as the audience share for AM stations 4KQ and 4BC continued to drop.

Nova held on to the most popular overall station crown and broadened its lead in the Drive slot.

The latest survey period stretched from January 21 to March 3.
