Cape Town - The Mother City has an amazing vibe during December as many local and international visitors head to the coastal metropolis for a chance to immerse themselves in all that Cape Town has to offer.

While the tourists were embracing the culture, I spent three weeks with Volkswagen's Beetle R-Line. Think of it as a swansong to the third-generation hatchback launched in 2013.

To differentiate it from vanilla versions, the R-Line is decked-out in special kit; unique central and lower part of the rear bumper (in black), black diffuser, smoked LED rear lights, 18" 'Ravenna Adamantium' wheels in a silver hue and side-mirrors decked in a gloss black finish which extends to the interior too.

110kW/250Nm

Power is derived from a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine producing 110kW and 250Nm, the R-Line model is available exclusively with the firm's 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
