BHUBANESWAR: Union petroleum and skill development minister
Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday filed nomination for
Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
Given the
BJP's strength in the Madhya Pradesh assembly, election of Dharmendra to the upper house is certain. "With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, I will work harder for the people," Dharmendra said after filing his nomination in Bhopal.
Dharmendra, who previously went to the upper house from Bihar, is the first politician from
Odisha to have been elected to Rajya Sabha from outside the state. He was Lok Sabha member from Deogarh constituency from 2004-2009. He was elected MLA from
Pallahara from 2000-2004.
