‘Fortnite’ Update 3.3 to Add C4 Weapon Very Soon

Fortnite update 3.3 will bring C4 to Battle Royale, according to a tweet from the game’s official account. Epic Games didn’t reveal much about how the explosive functions in-game, but data miners and players are currently mulling over the possibilities.

The in-game news post teases the item as as a “new explosive weapon” and jokes “where we’re going, there’s no room for doors.” Beyond that minor clue, any other details about how C4 works amount to pure speculation.

That being said, this development isn’t too much of a surprise. Late last week, YouTube’s DieBuddiesZocken extracted its related files from the game’s latest PC patch. In other words, the gadget was very clearly on Epic’s radar. Based on that leaked information, it seems C4 will be a very rare item and may have to be paired with some kind of detonator before it can be used.

A release date for the upcoming patch has yet to be revealed, but, barring unforeseen issues, it will likely be live before the end of the week.

What still hasn’t been released, however, is the Jetpack accessory revealed and suddenly canceled several weeks ago. The supposed limited-time item was briefly mentioned in a Battle Royale Development Update on Friday, but its completion status remains the same. It’s still being tweaked before its public test period can truly begin.

Until we learn more about what Fortnite’s C4 does, fans should also know that sign ups have begun for the game’s iOS version. We’ve written a full recap of the latest developments with everything you need to know. As long as you’ve got a fairly new Apple device, there’s little reason why players shouldn’t enter their details for a chance to receive an early code.

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One and PC. The C4 update will release simultaneously across all platforms.
