BJP moots helpline for farmers in Adilabad

Farmers call on the helpline to complain about cheating, circulation of fake seeds etc.

The national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, P. Muralidhar, on Monday suggested his party’s unit in Adilabad open a helpline for farmers. He said the party can respond to farmers who call on the helpline to address complaints on cheating, circulation of fake seeds or even money lenders collecting commissions from them.

The BJP leader was addressing farmers at a public meeting titled Rythu Panchayati here. He criticised the State government for not cooperating with the Union government on beneficiary schemes aimed at farmers. Mr. Muralidhar said farmers were being ignored under the TRS rule which is evident from their current state. “Central schemes like issue of soil health cards which was supposed to be distributed by the State government for the welfare of farmers have gone abegging,” he accused.

Enlisting the efforts of the Union government in uplifting the farming community, the BJP leader said it was the only government which has announced a 50 % enhancement in minimum support price of various crops over the existing one.Adilabad district BJP president Payal Shankar spoke about the injustices being meted out to farmers. Bharatiya Janata Kisan Morcha State general secretary K. Narasimham Naidu, district in-charge Vikram Reddy, Adivasi leader Madavi Raju participated.
