CPM is anti-national, says the man who won Tripura for BJP

MUMBAI: Sunil Deodhar, the architect of the BJP's Tripura assembly polls victory, on Tuesday termed the CPM "anti-national" and claimed that the communist party accepted the Constitution out of compulsion.

He said he would not call the Congress anti-national, but their actions often supported anti-nationalism and added, "They (Congress) can go to any extent in politics."

"But ideologically, the CPM is anti-national. It is their ideology. They don't believe in (the) country. When we call them anti-nationals, they feel happy. They aren't saddened by it," Deodhar told a Marathi news channel.

"They (CPM) have accepted the Constitution out of compulsion, in order to live in the country. Those who don't accept the Constitution become naxalites. They are all the same. They have accepted the Constitution as a farce and wherever they get a chance, they don't hesitate to act against India," he said.

Meanwhile, speaking at a media interaction here, Deodhar said the communist ideology should be weeded out and nationalism should be established in the country.

"Our ideology is related to 'deshbhakti' (nationalism) and motherland. If any other ideology comes in the way of our motherland and development, it should be weeded out.

"I am not saying that communists should be weeded out, but their ideology must go," he said.

"I have to propagate and talk about my ideology effectively to banish their ideology. This is a fight of thoughts and it should be fought with thoughts only," the BJP leader added.

On the issue of beef ban, Deodhar said, "If many people of a state want that something should not happen, then the government should be with them.

"The people of many states in the north-east eat beef, so there should not be any ban. The fact is that many sections of Hindus also eat beef in the northeast."

Some decisions must be taken keeping in view the people's sentiments, Deodhar said.
