NGO gifts oxygen concentrator to Surat traffic police

SURAT: Now traffic cops in Varachha area can breathe healthy air while on duty on the busy Varachha road. A pilot project has been launched by a city based NGO in association with traffic police to provide oxygen concentrator to the traffic cops and if the project is successful the machine will be provided to all important traffic locations in the city.

The US made oxygen concentrator worth Rs 40,000 was provided at Varachha traffic chowky by Shree Jinagna Seva Trust (SJST). The oxygen concentrator helps inhale more oxygen to a user. It cleans air and supplies it through tubes for the user.


"We are planning to provide more of these oxygen concentrator and started the pilot project from Varachha since traffic density is higher in that area. World over this equipment is popular and it is of high standards,” said Piyush Shah, of SJST.


"The level of pollution on road is high due to heavy traffic and traffic policemen are forced to breathe polluted air. It impacts their health adversely. But by breathing with help of the oxygen concentrator for 10 minutes in morning and evening it benefits a lot,” said B R Pandor, deputy commissioner of police, traffic.
