Will launch crackdown on absconding criminals: Tripura DGP

Press Trust of India  |  Agartala

DGP Kumar Shukla today said police would soon launch a crackdown on absconding criminals in the state. Shukla said police would initiate an operation to nab 4,800 such criminals, whose names were recently published in a list. "We have now declared war against criminals and anti-social elements and no illegal activity will be tolerated," he told a press conference here. On allegations of post-poll violence in Tripura, the DGP said 35 people were arrested after the elections, and legal action were initiated against them. Punitive measures would be taken against police officers in case they are found to be reluctant in taking measures against criminal elements, he said.
