Sushmita Dev, president of All India Mahila Congress, said on Sunday that the women wing of Congress in the state would be instrumental in formation of Congress government in Chhattisgarh for polls is scheduled later this year.
Addressing media persons here at Congress Bhawan, Dev, Lok Sabha member for the constituency of Silchar in Assam, said that Congress would try to field more and more women candidates in the coming assembly elections in the state.
She assured the members of women’s wing of the party in the state that the deserving candidates among them would definitely be given ticket for the elections.
Commenting on the working of state woman’s wing, Dev said it was working with proper coordination and there were no complaints.
``This is an election year and it is expected that the women’s wing will strive hard for formation of Congress government in state,’’ she said.
Dev stated that women in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh were living insecure in comparison to other parts of the country and only that was why she had specially demanded her security from the Chhattisgarh government for her visit.
