Hasin Jehan, estranged wife of India quickie Muhammad Shami, has turned down patch-up offers from her husband saying time for a compromise has long elapsed and that she is in no mood to say ‘aye’ lest she is misunderstood and wrongly painted by the world.
Even as the entire locality of Sonatorepara in Birbhum district offered to stand behind this “brave girl who has always raised her voice against injustice” Jehan on Sunday willy-nilly rejected Shami’s offer for compromise “in the interest of our child who has a bright future lying ahead of her,” saying time for a dialogue has long elapsed.
“There is no question of a compromise now as he has crossed all limits and time for a talk has passed,” Jehan said. “I have reasons behind raising my issue. I tried to reason out with him on several occasions but he not only rejected my points but also threatened me.”
Shami’s wife had earlier lodged a police complaint against her husband for keeping adulterous relationship with multiple women. The top brass of Bengal State police was now taking up the issue with Uttar Pradesh Police and senior officers are likely to visit that State. Shami originally belongs to UP and was currently settled in Kolkata.
“I have repeatedly warned her about his extra-marital relationships with girls like Alisba, Manju, Arpita and others but he kept on denying the charges. Then he threatened me. In fact he would have issued a divorce notice to me had I not chanced upon his mobile phone containing details of his affairs,” Jehand said.
When asked as to what was preventing her from coming to an understanding to end the marital discord, particularly after Shami offering to strike a compromise on his behalf for the sake of his family and their child, the estranged lady said she had already exhausted that avenue of compromise and that “we have crossed that time.”
She added, “If I go for a compromise now then the entire world will accuse me. I will be painted as the real villain who had brought the charges for ulterior motives. I will take the issue to its logical end.”
One of her childhood friends from Siuri in Birbhum district from where she hails Mahua Ghosh said the entire locality was behind her and that they would go any distance in her support. “I have known as a brave girl who never compromises against a wrong. If need be we will all stand by her,” she said.
