‘A positive decision will soon emerge on the establishment of railway zone’

BJP State president and Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu on Sunday reiterated that the Central government was committed to fulfilling all its commitments to Andhra Pradesh, including those beyond the scope of the A.P. Reorganisation Act.

He insisted that the Centre did many things in the last three-and-a-half years in spite of having the leeway to deliver them in 10 years, and there should be no doubt about the BJP’s resolve to undo the injustice meted to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the media after the State party’s core committee meeting here, which was attended by national joint general secretary V. Satish, among others, Mr. Haribabu said: “85% of what has been promised to A.P. has been accomplished and the remaining will be fulfilled before the regime change in Delhi. It is unfortunate that the BJP is being accused of doing little. A positive decision will soon emerge on the establishment of the railway zone, a decision on which is hampered by objections from other States. The Ministry of Railways is on the job.”

Similarly, the Central government was willing to give the green signal for the seaport at Dugarajapatnam if the State resolved the issues faced by it. Several institutions that did not figure in the Act were sanctioned and their construction was at different stages. He asked whether the State government was not aware of the same.

Revenue deficit

Mr. Haribabu said it was true that there was disagreement on the quantum of revenue deficit for 2014-15. Efforts were under way to reconcile the differences, and added that the party would play a constructive role in the Assembly for the development of the State. MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, MLAs P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, Kamineni Srinivas, Pydikondala Manikyala Rao, and Akula Satyanarayana, MLCs Somu Veerraju and P.V.N. Madhav, Daggubati Purandeswari, and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao were among those present.
