Man killed over elopement

RAJKOT: A man was stabbed to death at the gate of Kedarnath Society in Kothariya Road in Rajkot on Monday afternoon. Police identified the deceased as Mukesh Vala (45), a resident of Sarvodaya Society in Kothariya Road area of Rajkot.

Police suspect one Vishal Chauhan, a resident of Dhebar Road in Rajkot, of the crime. Vala had eloped with a woman from Koli community with whom he had a maitri karar (friendship contract).


“The accused, whose numbers are yet to be ascertained, allegedly led by Chauhan were angry with Vala for his elopement with the woman. Though it is the primary details found during our investigation, the real reason for the crime will be known once the accused are arrested,” said Bhaktinagar police station inspector V K Gadhvi.
