PM Modi pitches for more use of solar energy |

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised on the promotion of more use of solar energy in daily life. He was addressing a public meeting at Diesel Locomotive Works, DLW campus in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh this evening.
Mr Modi said that more use of solar energy can improve the quality of life of women and also protect the environment.
Mr Modi said several projects are under consideration for modernisation and expansion of DLW to create employment avenues in Varanasi.
Speaking about several public welfare schemes initiated by the Centre, the Prime Minister said, Ayushmann Bharat scheme has been introduced to take care of poor people.
Mr Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation of several schemes worth 800 crore rupees in the state. He also distributed documents to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Housing Scheme, Rashtriya Ajivika Mission and Mudra Yojana.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi and visiting French President Emmanuel Macron French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated 101-megawatt solar power plant in Mirzapur district of the state.
157 million unit of power will be produced per year from the project at Dadar Kala village. About one lakh houses are likely to get power from the project. Commercial production will begin from next month.
The Prime Minister also flagged off a train between Maduadih Railway Station in Varanasi and Patna.
Mr Modi and the French President visited the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul at Varanasi where they interacted with artisans and viewed a live demonstration of their crafts.
The French President also enjoyed a boat ride with Mr Modi between Assi and Dashwamedh ghats on the Ganga with a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of the temple city.
