Telangana Legislative Council chairman K. Swamy Goud suffered an injury over his right eye when Congress members flung the mike at him.
Mr. Swamy Goud was sitting adjacent to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan during the latter’s address to the joint sitting of the legislature when he was injured.
Congress members were raising slogans holding placards when one of the member K. Venkat Reddy uprooted the mike on the table of the Opposition leader K. Jana Reddy and hurled it at the Governor.
The mike however hit the Council chairman, who was listening to the Governor’s speech, on his right eye. He was rushed to the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital where the doctors administered first aid him after examining whether the eye suffered any damage, according to information.
Health Minister C. Lakshma Reddy and senior leaders of the ruling TRS and BJP called on Mr. Swamy Goud at the hospital and condemned the Congress member’s “high-handed behaviour.”
