Amendments in e-way bill to tackle supply-chain issues: Report

Press Trust of India  |  Mumbai

Amendments in the bill by the government recently will significantly address concerns of logistics, and companies, a report said today. The revised draft policy on the generation of bills released by the Central Board of and Customs on March 7, according to rating agency Icra, will benefit small businesses that operate on intra-state basis and the less than truckload (LTL) operators. As per the revised norms, bill generation will not be required for each consignment in case of intra-state movement of goods through or companies where the value of each consignment is less than Rs 50,000 but the aggregate value is greater than Rs 50,000, explained Subrata Ray, senior group vice president, Further, the revised policy has also extended the relaxation on the requirement of updating vehicle details for intra-state movement to 50 km from 10 km earlier. It may be noted that the road industry had raised several concerns about the earlier draft bill policy, especially regarding generation of bills. This was expected to put a significant compliance burden on the road sector, especially courier, and LTL operators.
