Explosion near PDP MLA’s house in Kulgam

Suspected militants caused an explosion outside the house of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Abdul Majeed Padder in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

Preliminary reports suggest that the explosion took place outside the residence of the PDP MLA in Kulgam’s Noorabad constituency on Sunday evening. “There was no loss of live or damage reported in the explosion,” said the police.

The police said they were ascertaining the cause of the explosion. “We are collecting details to verify if it was a grenade attack or something else.”

Meanwhile, reinforcements were rushed to the area to search the vicinity for any armed militants.

However, no one could be immediately spotted or detained.

Attack on CRPF post

In a separate incident, Suspected militants hurled a grenade on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) guard post in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday evening, but there was no damage, the police said.

“Apparently, militants hurled a grenade on a guard post of 18 bn [battalion] CRPF [at Damhaal Hanjipora] in Kulgam,” Kashmir Zone Police said on their official Twitter page.
