Hawaiian Airlines drops Airbus, orders Boeing

Hawaiian AirlinesHawaiian Airlines has ordered 10 next-generation Boeing 787 aircrafts and cancelled an order for a brand new version of their Airbus A330.
Air Niugini, Air Tahiti-Nui and Air New Zealand are the other Pacific carriers that have been joined by Hawaiian Airlines in the process of selecting the long-range wide-body.
The 787-9 would be used to replace the existent A330 aircrafts of Hawaiian on flights to Tahiti, American Samoa, New Zealand, Australia and mainland USA.
The increased range of the brand new airplane would offer Hawaiian the opportunity to introduce new non-stop flights to Europe from its Honolulu base and also new destinations in Asia.
Hawaiian has options for a further 10 787s, the first is due in the year 2021.
This deal is said to be worth US$1.5 billion after standard discounts.
