A man who had been absconding after allegedly assaulting a woman six years ago was arrested by the police on Sunday from the Ernakulam boat jetty. The accused is Vinod Venugopal, 46, a resident of TD Road. “He had been arrested in connection with the assault case. He had absconded after getting bail. The arrest followed a tip-off. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody,” the police said.
