Mooting for a unified electoral rolls for the Assembly, Lok Sabha and the local bodies Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the voters list should be linked with Aadhar so that its mis-use can be prevented.
The announcement was made by CM here at the Gorakhsnath temple.
Yogi said, “The state government will send a proposal to the Centre for having a single voters’ list for civic, assembly and general elections in UP. This list should be linked with Aadhaar to weed out all anomalies”
He even said that a 11-member committee headed by health minister Siddharthnath Singh has been constituted to prepare and submit a report in a time bound manner. The Committee will submit report within two months’ time,” declared CM.
The suggestion for having a unified voters’ list has been raised in previous many years because electoral roll for Lok Sabha and Local body elections is separate. In last Urban Local Body elections voters had complained about missing names. They claimed that they had voted in assembly elections but their names was missing from the Urban Local Body rolls.
“If we have one electoral roll it save many problems like missing names and will also save money,” he said.
The CM said that linking of voters list with Aadhar will remove the anomalies of doubling of the names besides the youths attaining the age of 18 years will be automatically get enrolled in the electoral rolls.
Meanwhile, the CM lauded the efforts made by the government to improve the quality of education in the state and to hold cheating free board exams.
“This year we held the Board exams in 30 days time but from next year, it will be completed in 15 days and the results would also be declared after a fortnight of the end of the exams,” he said.
