PATNA: Leader of Opposition in
Bihar assembly
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday attacked the Centre over the farmers' march to Mumbai and said Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, who once made several promises for the welfare of peasants, didn't even want to hold talks with them.
"PM Modi, who had once promised to implement the recommendations of the
Swaminathan Commission, does not even want talk to the agitating farmers. How he (Modi) takes the risk of backtracking from the promises made during the elections and in his party's manifesto?" Tejashwi said in a statement here. Tejashwi is the younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
In his tweet, the RJD leader also questioned the Centre's failure in implementing the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations.
Over 35,000 farmers from different parts of Maharashtra are camping in Mumbai following a week-long march from Nasik. The agitating farmers marched 180 km from Nashik to Mumbai to demand waiver of farm loan and the implementation of Swaminathan Commission's recommendations.
