Barbers Can Help Lower Your Blood Pressure, Study Finds A study in the New England Journal of Medicine focused on black men, who have the highest rates of high blood pressure compared to other ethnic groups.

The male participants had a systolic blood pressure of 140 or higher, whereas the normal range is 120/80.

For the study, one group had their barbers set up a meeting with a pharmacist at the barbershop.

The pharmacist gave them advice on healthier lifestyle choices and measured their blood pressure.

Six months later, those men achieved a blood pressure of 130/80 or lower.

Researchers believe the men sought follow-up appointments and trusted their barbers enough to consult their healthcare providers..
