In the upcoming film, based on the book and of the same name, Anupam Kher essays the role of Singh. The recent addition to the cast is Akshaye Khanna who plays Baru in the film. Khanna's look from the film has also been revealed.

Khanna, confirming the development, spoke to the Economic Times (ET) and said, "I am thrilled and excited to be a part of a venture which will be path breaker, a game changer at many levels." He further, speaking about his part, adds, "I realised that it is a very important movie, whether I was a part of it or not was secondary. Even if my role was insignificant I would have still done it."

Quashing the most obvious speculations of such a political film to be coated with a certain agenda, the actor informs that the screenplay doesn't put forth any political agenda at all. He, in fact, commends the way the whole team including the director is approaching the film, reports ET.

The ET report also informs that actor Arjun Mathur (of Luck By Chance, My Name Is Khan fame) has also reportedly been roped in to play Rahul Gandhi in the film.

The film's screenplay has been penned by National Award winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta. The Accidental Prime Minister,  directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte is slated to release on 21 December, 2018.
