Over 95 % of the targeted 3.32 lakh children aged below five years in Coimbatore district were covered under the Phase II of the pulse polio immunisation drive conducted on Sunday.
Sources in the Health Department here said that 3,21,440 children were administered polio drops through 353 centres under the jurisdiction of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation and 1,337 centres established in rural areas of the district.
As many as 6,324 personnel drawn from various government departments, volunteers from Non-Governmental Organisations, nursing students, employees of mid-day meal scheme and health workers were deployed.
In City Corporation limits, as many as 1,59,845 children against the targeted 1,61,787 children were administered polio drops at 353 booths, 10 transit teams and five mobile teams besides anganwadis, private hospitals, schools, railway station, and bus stand, Corporation sources added.

The immunisation programme to administer polio drops to a targeted 2,20,040 children aged up to five years in the district was held on Sunday.
A total of 1,170 booths were set up across the district to administer the drops to the children.
Earlier on the day, Minister for Animal Husbandry Udumalai Radhakrishnan inaugurated the drive at Avinashi.
