A man who tried to intervene in a violent brawl in Melbourne's CBD overnight was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
Police are investigating the assault, on the corner of Bourke Street and Hardware Lane, after the man sustained serious injuries and another man received minor injuries.
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
It is understood a group of men approached three men about 2.15am. A man from the group of three received minor injuries after he was assaulted.
A second man tried to intervene but was punched and received serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police are calling for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
