Youth stabs lover, held in Rayagada
RAYAGADA: Police arrested a youth from Baladia village under the Kalyansinghpur police station in the district on Saturday after he allegedly stabbed a girl and left her critically injured.
The accused identified as Kuruma Praska was taken into custody after the girl’s family lodged a case against him with the police.
Sources said Kuruma and the girl, a resident of neighbouring Kanipai village were in love for last one year. However, he was furious after the girl developed a relationship with another boy.
The accused went to the girl’s house and gave her a proposal for marriage, which was rejected by the latter. In a fit of rage over the rejection Kuruma stabbed the girl with a knife and then consumed poison, said sources.
While both were rushed to Kalyansinghpur CHC in critical condition by their family members, the girl was later shifted to a hospital in Brahmapur due to her deteriorating condition.
