Alleges conspiracy to prevent setting up of the Cauvery Management Board

Stating that he didn’t mind being the first person to resign from the Lok Sabha, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss urged Tamil Nadu MPs and MLAs to resign to put pressure on the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) at the earliest.

Addressing reporters here on Saturday, he said a conspiracy was afoot to prevent the constitution of the board, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was trying to capture power in Karnataka, was deliberately delaying its constitution.

If the Centre failed to form the CMB before March 29, it would have to see protests from farmers, students, youth and almost all sections of the society in the State, he warned. If the MPs and MLAs joined the protest by resigning their posts, it would lead to a constitutional crisis and might pave way for a solution to the issue.

Mr. Anbumani added that he would lead a protest on Sunday at the inter-State border against the Kerala government for constructing a check dam across the Siruvani river.

Not only Kerala but all States that shared water with Tamil Nadu were constructing check dams and the State government was unable to do anything to stop those because the ruling party was inefficient and the Chief Minister weak, he charged.
