Former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on Sunday wrote to the Director General of Police Loknath Behra seeking a probe into the source of a message doing its rounds on social networks attributing to him certain views about the LDF government’s performance on the upcoming Chengannur Assembly byelection.
The fake message carried his photograph and quoted him as having said that the LDF’s prospective candidate Saji Varghese would lose his deposit if the voters of Chengannur were to evaluate the performance of the Pinarayi government.
He said that on an earlier occasion, a similar fake statement had appeared on social media. He had issued a press statement denying that he had made such a remark. He said he had preferred to submit a formal complaint with the police chief since fake messages attributed to him were repeatedly appearing in cyber domain.
