New party formed to take up migration, Gairsain

| | Dehradun | in Dehradun

With an objective of stopping migration and making Gairsain the permanent capital of the State, a new political outfit ‘Uttarakhand Parvateeya Vikas Party’ (UPVP) was formally launched on Saturday. Girish Chandra Ishtwal and Narda Chand Baluni would be the patrons of the new outfit while Vijay Kumar Baudai was unanimously chosen as the president of the just- formed party. SD Pant has been made the convenor while Prahlad Singh Bisht was appointed senior vice-president. Kailash Joshi would be the media in-charge of the party.

Addressing newsmen here on Saturday, the newly appointed president of the party Baudai said that both Congress and BJP which have been ruling the state by turns have failed to understand the problem the people of Uttarakhand have been facing over the years. “Their attitude towards the burning problems of the State is nonchalant.

The most shocking fact is that they are idling away time while in office without going the whole hog  as expected to translate the dream which fired those who fought for the State into reality. The problems of migration from the hills, corruption and others are assuming grimmer proportions with time. Besides, the emotive demand of the shift of the capital from Dehradun to Gairsain is being kept hanging fire for years,” he said.

He further announced that the all-round prosperity of the people of the state would act as the guiding principle for the newly formed party. “We would engage in preparing an exhaustive roadmap for development of the State with our view firmly focused on the log-term developmental perspectives. We are particularly worried over the unabated migration which is threatening to finish off the “mountainous part’ of the State. No effort would be spared on our part to film up a comprehensive plan to take on the monumental issue head-on,” he said.

Another senior leader of the party said that it is futile to hope that the Congress and the BJP would get out of their traditional rut and strive to evolve out-of-the box solutions to the peculiar problems the state has been facing. “The people are getting disillusioned steadily. However, they had no option till now to break out of their political stranglehold.

We are giving the people an alternative. We are committed to bringing a whiff of fresh thinking in the political arena of the State and we are sure we would move ahead with the blessing of the suffering people of the State,” he added
