2 petrol pumps sealed in B’pur

| | BRAHMAPUR | in Bhubaneswar

Flouting the ‘No helmet, no petrol’ rule, two petrol pumps were sealed by the road safety enforcement squad led by Brahmapur Sub-Collector Siddhartha Shankar Swain during a raid held here on Friday.

According to sources, the two petrol pumps named ‘PVN Rao’ and ‘Kargil’ were dispensing petrol to the helmetless customers flouting the rule.

Swain said the step was taken to create awareness among people to wear helmet. ACSO Sibaram Pradhan, Susanta Kumar Hota, BPCL sales officer Dipak Rajak and officials of traffic police, BDA, BMC and OMVD were present during the raid.

Protesting the closure of the two petrol pumps by the district administration, many petrol pump owners on Saturday kept their outlets shut.

It may be mentioned that the district Collector had recently issued a strict instruction to the petrol pump owners to follow the ‘No helmet, no petrol” norm.
