Cong picks Naran Rathwa for RS polls

Vadodara: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) approved candidature of former junior railway minister Naran Rathwa for upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Along with Rathwa, the AICC also approved candidature of Ami Yagnik, former spokesperson of Gujarat Congress.

Rathwa, who was made minister during UPA-I, has contested Lok Sabha polls eight times since 1989 on Janata Dal and Congress tickets and has been successful five times. This is the first time that he has been selected to contest Rajya Sabha polls. While Rathwa was not available for comment, but his son Sangramsinh confirmed the news.
