In his bid to amicably find a solution to the ongoing sealing drive in the national Capital and provide relief to the devastated trading community, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi seeking their appointments for meeting.
This came a day after the CM announced to go on hunger strike if the sealing drive is not stopped by this month-end.
Kejriwal in his letter to Narendra Modi pressed for bringing a Bill in Parliament to remove ‘anomalies’ in the present laws which have necessitated sealing of commercial establishments.
“The traders are on the verge of starvation. Each shop is means of livelihood for many people. If all of them are rendered unemployed (due to sealing) then it may cause law and order situation,” the Delhi CM said.
“Traders earn their livelihood honestly and pay taxes.
But, they are suffering due to sealing. There is only one solution now: a law,” he said.
In his letter to Rahul, he urged him to rise above the politics on the issue. “This issue needs to be strongly raised in Parliament and pressure should be exerted on the Centre to bring a Bill over it,” Kejriwal wrote to the Congress president.
