Prasad to remain PCC chief till 2019

| | BHUBANESWAR | in Bhubaneswar

Prasad Harichandan would continue as the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president till the 2019 general elections as AICC president Rahul Gandhi did not accept his resignation, said OPCC Discipline Committee chairperson Sandhya Rani Mohapatra here on Saturday.

Harichandan had tendered his resignation on moral ground following the Congress’ debacle in the recentlyconcluded Bijepur Assembly by-election.

Mohapatra’s statement seemed to have ended the speculations about a possible replacement of Harichandan by another leader as the State party chief ahead of the 2019 elections.

Harichandan would continue in his post as Rahul Gandhi is not in favour of changing the PCC head before the 2019 general elections, Mohapatra said in her statement.

Notably, none of the party dissident leaders, particularly MLAs, who have been on a Harichandan-ouster campaign came out with their reactions to the day’s report.
