Media access to crime inquiry stressed

| | BHUBANESWAR | in Bhubaneswar

In this digital age, media and civil society should continue to have enormous access to crime investigation proceedings, said Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta at a seminar on “Accountability in Criminal Investigation” organised by the Odisha Civil Liberty Forum (OCLF) here on Saturday.

He said the courts of the nation invariably presume criminal investigation always to be free and fair. He also portrayed the recent incidents of Gurugram and Odisha.

Manipur High Court former Chief Justice L Mohapatra, DGP Dr RP Sharma and Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissioner of Police YB Khurania also spoke on the occasion.

Among others, OCLF chairman Merusagar Samantray and VP Pramod Patnaik were present. Secretary Suvendu Parida presented the brief report of the working and operations of OCLF.
