Goa Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma and Director General of Police Muktesh Chander have moved the Bombay High Court at Goa, challenging the jurisdiction of the Goa State Human Rights Commission (GSHRC) to order an inquiry into the ₹51 lakh BRICS summit food scam.
The joint petition is likely to be heard next week.
The GSHRC had asked the Chief Secretary to investigate allegations that the contract for food supplied to police on duty at the BRICS summit in 2016 was sub-let to a roadside contractor, and the food was unhygienic. The Chief Secretary, in his reply on January 25, had said the inquiry had been initiated and sought four more weeks to submit a report.
