For decongesting the major tourist resorts like Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharamshala and Chail, the Himachal state Government is thinking of find new ways to explore virgin and lesser known tourist destinations.
The state Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this in the Assembly yesterday. Mr. Thakur said that Detailed Project Report has been prepared by the tourism department with help of IMF, for developing lesser known spots like Chanshal, Rohru, Tangnu, Tikkar, Pujarali, Chirgaon, Barasli, Banchu, Tandali, Sharog, Ratandi, Shorog and Dodrakawar area with sanction of Rs. 13.65 lakh.
The Chief Minister said that the project report including paragliding, water sports, mountain biking would be handed over to the Centre. However, he said that it is not possible to fund the entire project by government alone and so private investments are needed to tap the vast egregious, adventurous and natural potential of the state.
The government would explore the virgin tourism destinations after making new tourism policy. The Chief Minister said that he will stress on allocating more budget and regarding private investment in the project. The Ski Scrape project report with the government will also be sent to the Centre for approval.
