The uniform of UP Police is set for a change in the coming summers. A proposal in this regard has been sent to officials concerned and a decision will be taken soon.
All Zonal ADGs, Range IGs and district police chiefs along with Commandants of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalions have also been apprised of the decision. Sources also maintained that the uniform colour might also see a slight change but a decision in this regard will be taken by the DGP headquarters.
Sources said that once the new uniform code was finalised, non-gazetted official / personnel including Inspectors, sub-inspectors, head constables, constables etc will wear tericot half shirt and a light cloth pants of Khakhi colour. The fabric of the shirt will be 67 percent polyester and 33 percent lycra.
Similarly instead of putting regular monogram and stars, they will have to get it stitched on their uniform. Senior officers are of the view that by embroidering the monogram and stars on the shirt, the cops will not have to face the problem of ensuring that they did not come out. Instead of folding full-sleeve shirt, cops will now wear half sleeve shirts.
Sources said that instead of the present design of pockets, cops will have to ensure round shapes pockets on side of the pants. Similarly instead of putting buttons on shirts, they will have to get a Velcro (without button) fixed. Lastly instead of tradition buckles in pants, the cops wil have to get buckles commonly used in trousers.
