The Delhi BJP will not allow Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot to attend the upcoming budget session of the Delhi Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta, said on Friday. The budget session starts from March 16.
The BJP leader argued that Mr. Gahlot was no longer an MLA following his disqualification, along with 19 other Aam Aadmi Party legislators, for allegedly holding offices of profit.
Though he is “being allowed” to occupy the office of a Cabinet Minister by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Opposition will stand by a Presidential order in this regard, the Rohini legislator said.
“The President’s order has disqualified Mr. Gahlot as MLA, but the CM has allowed him to remain a Minister,” Mr. Gupta said.
“If Mr. Gahlot attends the Session, the Opposition will protest,” he added.
