indexEarlier 2018, the Visit U.S. Coalition was formed with the target of overturning the drop in international visitation to the U.S. The coalition proposed the Trump administration to assign a senior official with the task of elevating travel and tourism to a national priority.

The proposal was one of the components of a targeted policy agenda the coalition published on Wednesday, aimed in turning around a decline in terms of inbound international travelers to the U.S. that all started in 2015.

To quote Roger Dow, the CEO of U.S. Travel Association, “The president understands how to stimulate prosperity and job growth, as evidenced by his tax-cut package and his focus on economy-boosting priorities such as infrastructure. International tourism is an incredibly potent driver of economic activity and job creation, but America is falling behind the rest of the world in attracting those dollars. Recapturing the U.S. market share of international travel would further strengthen his economic record and help realize his vision of consistent three percent GDP growth.”

Also, the coalition encouraged the administration at the same time Congress to endorse the U.S. abroad via Brand USA, the public-private destination marketing organization of US which didn’t get a place in Trump’s budget proposal last summer.

Other policy proposals comprise expanding intelligence exchanging with other countries and adding more member nations to the Visa Waiver Program or the VWP; increasing travel visa access and raising the number of visa processing facilities in all the demanding countries and at the same time addressing consular staffing requires in important international locations.
