India and France have agreed to mutually recognize academic qualifications to help students.
Terming the agreement as historic, Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar hoped that more countries will come forward for mutual recognition of academic qualifications so that the mobility of students and professionals improves.
Mr Javadekar was addressing the first high level India-France Knowledge Summit 2018 at Pravasi Bharatiya Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation Mrs Frederique Vidal was also present on the occasion.
Mr Javadekar informed that his ministry will launch Study in India initiative to attract more students from other countries to India.
On the occasion, Mrs. Vidal said, the knowledge summit is an essential step toward the goal set by the French Government to attract 10 thousand students to France by 2020.
Last year, over 5000 Indian students went to France to study.
